First night under the stars (well, clouds and full moon). Probably could have found a cheap hotel, but this campground was right on the route. Part trailer park inhabited by several Czech women and their army of feral cats and part self-service campground. But, down by the water, I have a great spot with my own view.
And, yes, I’m posting this sitting in my tent in the rain tethering my laptop to my phone. What a strange world we live in…
What do you do with the bike at night to prevent theft when you’re camping?
I equipped the bike with one of those “Amsterdam”-style rear-wheel locks and am also carrying a heavy duty chain, so I can lock the bike to some type of large, unmovable object. The bags are all locked to the bike (though, with pretty thin cable that could be easily defeated). This camping spot was pretty remote, so I felt safe just leaving the bike near the tent. But, I suppose I could also remove all the bags and store in the tent, as well. Security-wise, I think cities are likely the most dangerous places and need to be really careful to never leave anything unattended.
