This famous church is featured on the Russian 1000 rouble note. However, it’s located in a fairly industrial zone of the city and despite info to the contrary was closed when I visited.

Saint Ipaty Monastery over the Volga
St Ipaty’s was the Romanov’s spiritual base in Kostroma.
Lounging along the Volga
Spent the day wandering around the bank of the Volga. Met a few bunnies and some pigs. I can’t read the Russian menus but I have a feeling they made the list. Saw some huge ships, reinforcing the importance of the Volga for both shipping and tourism.
